I spied a truck pulling up to the neighbor’s house and watched as the crew began work tidying up the small colonial on our block. I began to feel a little impatient as I was waiting to start our own exterior paint job. Later that same day a friend called saying that a customer of ours called her and excitedly exclaimed, “The painters are here! The painters are here!” As an adult, having a contractor show up is a little like a child seeing the ice cream truck pulling onto their street. You’ve been waiting, and they’re finally here. It’s such a relief to finally see the work get started. When choosing ice cream it’s easy to figure out if you’ll like what’s behind the wrapper. With painting contractors, it’s a little trickier. Case and point: we were called to give a painting estimate in Hopkinton. This beautiful house had just been painted a few years ago, but was showing unusual wear and tear.
